Iceland

Are you Icelandic ? So nice to meet you ! I very love Unnur Birna of your country ! I think that Vietnamese people and newspapers now use "Iceland" more popular than "Băng Đảo". We should use "Iceland" in Vietnamese because not all Vietnamese people understand that "Băng Đảo" means Iceland, they can think that mean a very ice island in Arctic !

Newspaper are not the same as Wikipedia. Though sometimes they are good resources to find the common word for something, this is an ENCYCLOPEDIA, therefore the older words should be retained to prevent westernisation. At this rate, maybe 1000 years from now Vietnamese will be completely identical to English. It is like what happened to Chechen, there are only about 1100 native Chechen words left!! Chechen wikipedia is using older Chechen words instead of borrowed Russian ones. Although Vietnamese is not as much in danger as Chechen, it is still a good idea to look into the future. I am taking time out of my life to learn and self teach myself your beautiful language, I would hate to see it westernised. --Girdi 15:05, ngày 7 tháng 10 năm 2007 (UTC)

And might I add, I guess Thành viên is not used in Vietnam anymore, USER would be found in the Newspaper? I'd fix up your langauge templates if you'd like, I have a nice specialty in making them nice, but maybe you prefer USER over Thành viên. --Girdi 15:37, ngày 7 tháng 10 năm 2007 (UTC)

If you meant whether we have any member speaking Icelandic then the answer is "yes" -- we have you, don't we?

One little friendly note ... when you wrote "Ông cám on Binh Giang!!" (above) perhaps you meant "Cám ơn ông Bình Giang." Or, better still, "Cám ơn Bình Giang." since it's less formal.
