Reginald Doherty đánh bại Wilberforce Eaves 6–3, 7–5, 2–0 (bỏ cuộc) tại All Comers’ Final, và sau đó đánh bại đương kim vô địch Harold Mahony 6–4, 6–4, 6–3 ở Challenge Round để giành chức vô địch Đơn nam tại 1897.[1][2]
